Tú puedes establecer amistad con los aldeanos de Pueblo Pelícano. A medida que tus amistades se profundicen, las conversaciones con los aldeanos se harán mas agradables, ocurrirán unas cinemáticas llamadas eventos de corazón.
Cuando converses con los aldeanos, un círculo aparecerá al costado de sus retratos. Su color depende de la cantidad de corazones que tengas con el aldeano. Azul es 0 corazones, verde para 2 corazones, amarillo para 4 corazones, rojo para 6 corazones, lila para 8 corazones, y 10-12 corazones para que aparezca una estrella lila. Poner el cursor sobre el círculo mostrará el número de corazones de 10 en total que se tiene con el aldeano (si estás casado se muestra X/12 corazones).
Mecánicas de la amistad
Sistema de puntuación
Cada aldeano tiene puntos de amistad representados en un medidor de diez-corazones (para aldeanos normales) o doce-corazones (para tu esposa(o)):
Cada corazón son 250 puntos de amistad. tu puedes ver tus relaciones en la ficha social del menú de juego.
Puedes incrementar tus puntos de amistad:
- Hablando con los aldeanos (+10 si el aldeano esta en medio de una animación especial, como ejercitándose o usando una cámara, aunque de todas formas, solo punteas +20; al día).
- Completando las misiones de recompensa (+150).
- Darles regalos que les gusten (ver Regalos).
- Tomando algunas decisiones en sus eventos de corazón.
Puedes perder tus puntos de amistad:
- No hablarle a un aldeano (-2/día).
- Darles un regalo que no les gusta (ver Regalos)
- Disparando a ellos con la tirachinas.
- Hurgando el bote de basura estando cerca a ellos (-25, excepto Linus a el no le importa).
Cuando el medidor de corazón del aldeano esté lleno, ya no disminuirá con el tiempo, incluso si nunca vuelves hablar con el/ella. (Si el NPC está enamorado y no le has dado el ramo de flores, el medidor de corazón es considerado lleno con 8 corazones.) Pero aun se puede disminuir por otras razones (ejemplo: dando un pésimo regalo).
Cuando el medidor de corazón del aldeano está con al menos 2 corazones, tu podrás entrar a sus respectivos dormitorios.
Regalos
Tu puedes regalar a cualquier aldeano 2 regalos por semana (uno por día), éstos, se marcan en una casilla en la ficha social del menú de juego. Siempre puedes darles un regalo en sus cumpleaños, incluso si has regalado 2 veces esa misma semana. Después del contraer matrimonio, puedes darle a tu cónyuge un regalo todos los días.
Cada aldeano tiene gustos y disgustos, que afectan los puntos de amistad que has ganado cuando les das un regalo. Los puntos de amistad se multiplican en sus cumpleaños (×8) y en el intercambio de regalos secreto (×5):

Eventos de corazón
Ganando amistad con cada aldeano hará que se desbloqueen eventos únicos (para ver los requisitos, ver el articulo del aldeano). Es posible perder algunos eventos permanentemente, aunque la mayoría de ellos se pueden ver en tiempos libres o de ocio.
Enamorar

Algunos aldeanos se pueden enamorar del jugador (ver candidatos para matrimonio). Cuando hayas alcanzado ocho corazones con un aldeano, puedes darle un Ramo de flores para desbloquear el noveno y décimo corazón. (Tú puedes dar ramos de flores a múltiples aldeanos. Pero si lo haces después de haberte casado perderás puntos de amistad con tu cónyuge). Una vez que hayas alcanzado 10 corazones con un aldeano elegible, le podrás regalar un Colgante de sirena para casarte.
Después de casarte, puedes expandir tu medidor de corazones a 12 . Alcanzando el décimo tercer corazón oculto recibirás una Fruta estelar.
Festivales

Tres festivales pueden afectar tus puntos de amistad:
- La Danza floral incrementará tus puntos de amistad con tu compañero de baile.
- El Luau incrementará o disminuirá los puntos de amistad con todos los aldeanos.
- El regalo a tu amigo secreto en la Fiesta de la estrella de invierno vale 5x la cantidad normal de puntos de amistad.

Universal Loves
This is a list of items that every villager absolutely loves to receive as a gift. These items are guaranteed to give the most points (80) towards your relationship, but may be difficult to obtain.
When given a loved gift, villagers usually respond with a heart dialogue bubble.
