Jellies and Pickles are common villager favorites (see Friendship).
A Preserves Jar is the reward for completing the Lote Cultivos de Calidad en la Alacena.
Products
Quality of ingredients makes no difference to the finished product. The value of the finished product is determined using the base value (i.e. with no silver or gold star) of the fruit/vegetable. However, the preserved version is always more profitable than even gold star produce, although the profit margin is lower compared to normal produce.
Image | Name | Description | Ingredients | Time | Selling Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pickles | A jar of your home-made pickles. | Any vegetable | 4000m(≈3d)[1] | 2 × Base vegetable Value + 50 | |
Jelly | Gooey. | Any fruit | 4000m(≈3d)[1] | 2 × Base fruit Value + 50 |
Preserves Jar vs. Keg
The Preserves Jar increases the profit of a crop using the following equation: (2 × Base Crop Value + 50); while the Keg multiplies the base value of Fruits by 3, and Vegetables by 2.25. Because of this, low-value, high-yield crops like Corn or Tomatoes are more valuable in the preserves jar. The keg, on the other hand, favors crops with a much higher base value, such as Ancient Fruit or Melons. Below is a list of crops that are more beneficial to be put in the preserves jar.
Vegetables | Fruits |
---|---|
All Vegetables except Hops, Wheat, Pumpkin, and Red Cabbage | Apricot, Blackberry, Blueberry, Hot Pepper, Salmonberry |
It should be noted that these calculations only involve the value gained in terms of max profit; if looking at profit per day based on the time required, it is always more beneficial to use a preserves jar, on the highest value item possible (2 days to multiply value by 2×). See this reddit post for more details.
Notes
[1] Processing time calculates differently while sleeping than while awake. 1 hour = 60 minutes when awake but = 100 minutes when sleeping. So if you sleep a whole day, the machine would process 2400 minutes (100 × 24). If you work from 6:00AM till 12:00AM and sleep 6 hours, the machine will process 1680 minutes a day (60 × 18 + 100 × 6). If you work from 6:00AM till 2:00AM and faint 4 hours, the machine will process 1600 mins a day (60 × 20 + 100 × 4).
